Elements and Performance Criteria
- Plan and prepare for bulk water truck operations
- Access, interpret and apply bulk water truck operations documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant
- Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements
- Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues and implement control measures
- Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for work activities
- Obtain and interpret emergency procedures, and be prepared for fire/accident/emergency
- Operate truck
- Carry out pre-start, start-up, park-up, shutdown, and secure equipment procedures
- Coordinate activities with others at the site prior to commencement of, and during, the work activity
- Select and modify the operating technique to appropriately meet changing work conditions
- Drive truck within recommended speed, engine capability and limitations
- Act on or report monitoring systems and alarms
- Continually monitor hazards and risks, and ensure safety of self, other personnel, plant and equipment
- Load, haul and distribute water
- Position water cart at load and discharge/distribution points
- Load water cart to within the authorised carrying capacity and to suit the site and task conditions
- Carry out water haulage operations efficiently, safely and smoothly avoiding surge and sway
- Discharge/distribute water efficiently in accordance with requirements and procedures
- Monitor and maintain discharge and distribution systems throughout the operations
- Complete the work plan within the operating capacity of the equipment
- Carry out machine operator maintenance
- Conduct housekeeping activities
